Day 1: England & France
After a ridiculously early start, we got to Folkestone with time to spare before our train left today. We then made fantastic time through France, without the slightest impediment from the snow… There was no traffic, and we found a fantastic free campsite on the border with Andorra where we are now spending the night. Have a look at the timelapse video to see our journey so far!Ok, so that may seem like a lie… In reality, I’m writing this before we’ve even left. I’m hoping we’ve had a white Christmas, and there was no traffic around Paris… or anywhere really!
That said, I didn’t lie about the timelapse video…
Admittedly, it’s not this years trip. I made this video last year, but never had time to play with it. I’ve just shoved it into windows movie maker and added a soundtrack (apologies to anyone in Germany… thanks to copywright regulations on the soundtrack, you won’t be able to see this video)
The route we do this year should be vaguely the same as last year… It starts in the train in Folkestone (where the beemer in front was quite curious about our car!) and ends in a parking lot somewhere in France (I don’t remember where… I do remember walking into an Irish pub, which was the only thing open by the time we got there, and bought a bottle of red wine… and he gave us 2 glasses to take “home” to drink it! Very kind of him!)
Enjoy!
A little word of warning… I might be able to get the second leg of the journey, down to Tangier in Spain, up for tomorrow! That would be quite perfect really, as it would match last year and this years trip perfectly! So even though you are looking at a year-old recording, we did essentially that exact route “today”… and the second part “tomorrow”!
